SRK Turns 48

On November 2nd 2013 King Khan turned 48, but when you look at his recent pics even on his birhtday in a crisp white shirt he very much looked the charming Baadshah we have been seeing since 2 decades.
Age is just a number someone has said and so apt Shah Rukh Khan proves this saying right with his irresistible looks. At 48 many people start looking old although actors have got to be in shape as the trade demands them to be dapper irrespective of their age , still SRK is way ahead from his contemporaries he can even give the younger bunch a run for their money with his looks, energy, wit and what not.
I have always been an avid SRK fan ever since i was 8 years old and till today my love for him has only increased. Several new actors come every year and do good works but whatever SRK does hold another importance for me. To even think that he is 48 now makes me very nostalgic.. his old movies come infront of me his different looks for different films are as fresh in my mind as his latest ones. The first film that i saw of him on the big screen was Karan-Arjun with his then good friend and now rival as they say - Salman Khan , directed by the very talented Rakesh Roshan the story of two brothers who die only to born again to retaliate their murder and for the love of their mother played by Rakhi Gulzar. The movie was a huge success at the box office but then i hardly cared for box office numbers unlike today. I remember how much i enjoyed Koyla yet another Rakesh Roshan directed SRK-Madhuri starrer movie that i watched again on the big screen. SRK played the mute Shankar whose killer looks made Madhuri fall in love with him instantly only looking at his picture hard copy ofcourse. I prayed for Koyla's success when i visited Vaishno Devi with family but unfortunately Koyla only did average business. Nevertheless the other SRK movies did very well that year. The other movies were the very sweet Yess Boss , The NRI saga Pardes and the very timeless Dil To pagal hai(DTPH) .
DTPH was the movie that replayed in my mind sitting on my school bench. Yes i had taken permission to take my head down as i pretended i did not feel good which gave me the golden opportunity to replay the movie which left a deep impact on my mind.' Rahul naam to suna hoga " this iconic dialogue made me fall in love with the sweet Rahul little did i know that next year the same name Rahul will take another form and is going to leave me completely smitten by his 'cool' attitude.
One more thing that i still remember is the time i first watched Pardes on tv, yes i missed it on the big screen and still regret it though watching it in hall was not in my hands a i was very small and was dependent on my dad's mood to take me to the theatre. Anyway so when i was first watching this Subhash Ghai directed epic love story i realised the other function of heart, There is one scene in Pardes when Alok Nath takes a sword to kill Mahima Choudhry but SRK stops him and cuts his own hand leaving his blood all over the weapon, this scene generated a pain in my heart i cudn't stand seeing his blood although it was not real. And it also made sure that i have lost my heart to this dimpled darling.
My heart beats to the tune of Chhayyiya Chhayyia, SRK wearing red jacket and cargos dancing on the rooftop of train these are the stuffs dreams are made of. When i think in retrospect the works of actors that passed the test of time i get maximum works done by SRK be it the obsessive lover of Darr , the young Raja who did not think twice to marry his love so wat if she was a widow, the innocent Raju who found himself lost in his big dreams, and many more i just feel proud that SRK has added value to the Indian Cinema and he will be remembered forever for his dedication, energy and mostly for his uniqueness.  There are several characters played by SRK which shows a side of him as he himself says that he leaves a part of him in all the roles he plays. Sometimes i fall in love with the arrogant yet sensitive Devdas Mukherji who renders me crying my heart out when he dies, sometimes the very possessive husband Gopal who talks to a statue of horse and sometimes i simply can't take my eyes off him when he shows off his abs in dard-e-disco. More than the characters i love the real Shah Rukh who married his sweetheart Gauri by changing his religion, who is a doting father who wants to accompany his kids to their youth parties, who admits that he is too old to learn how to say sorry, who came from Delhi to rule over Mumbai. Today his Mannat stands tall as a tourist spot. If you are visiting Mumbai and miss the chance to see Mannat your tour is incomplete. Today his Chennai Express runs successfully from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. So what if he is approaching 50 he will make 50 the new 30 because age can't dare to make him look old. His charm is timeless. So i am just looking forward to a 'Happy New Year'
